Administration

Our team of secretaries and administrative workers are here to guide you through the practice by arranging appointments, dealing with enquiries, prescription and results administration and processing referrals.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits. Our teams of receptionists also answer the practice telephones and have been trained to help direct your care or enquiry to the right person. Please assist them in helping you whenever possible.

Community Midwives

The Community Midwife is available to provide help and advice throughout pregnancy. She sees all pregnant mums regularly during their pregnancies, both at antenatal clinics and also at Parentcraft courses; she will subsequently follow up after birth with visits at home. Trying for Pregnancy? - Our midwife is available for counselling advice.

Community Nurses

The District Nurses are highly qualified nurses who have undergone further extensive training to enable them to specialise in providing high quality care to patients in the Community. Home visits are made at the discretion of the District Nurse and are usually only made to patients who are unable to get out of the house, or have been assessed by the District Nurse as having a physical and/or medical problem which prevents them from attending the surgery. The District Nurses also hold wound clinics and 'doppler' clinics.

Community Matron

We have a Community Matron in post with the surgery at present. The Matron 'case manages' some of our patients with specific health problems, helping to set up packages of care and to help patients avoid upsetting and sometimes unnecessary admissions to hospital. The Community Matron will visit patients in their own home where appropriate.

Health Visitors

Health Visitors can be contacted directly by telephoning 01246 253025 between the hours of 09:00 – 10:00 and 16:00 – 17:00.

Physiotherapy

We have direct access to appointments with physiotherapists.

Social Services

Anyone requiring help with services or care at home can seek advice and an assessment through the Social Services Department. Tel: (01246) 347777. If you are enquiring about a residential or nursing home placement, please contact the above number and they will arrange for the necessary assessments.

Allocated GP

We are required to allocate a named accountable GP to each patient. This is a contract requirement and does not prevent you from seeing the GP of your choice at the practice. If you have a preference as to which GP you are allocated to, we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate this request.
