Medicines Order Line (MOL)

The Medicine Order Line allows you to order your repeat prescription over the telephone and online.

The Medicine Order Line service is open from 8AM to 4PM Monday – Friday (excluding bank holidays).

Please dial 01246 588860 or use the link below to contact the MOL using their online submission form.

During the call, our Medicine Order Line operatives will go through your prescription request and check which items are needed, with support from a team leader or pharmacy technician as appropriate. The medication request is processed whilst you are on the telephone and is then sent electronically for the prescriber to review and sign. The prescription will then be sent electronically to your nominated pharmacy.

Before calling or submitting an online form, patients are advised to:

  • Check your medication cupboard before ordering.
  • Order your prescription when you have 7 days of medication left.
  • Let us know if you have a build-up of medication so we can adjust the quantities.
  • Do not order medicines ‘just in case’. If you need a medication in the future, you can still request it even if not ordered regularly.
  • Let us know if you have stopped taking any of your medicines.

Please note: Inspire Health cannot take your prescription order over the telephone.

Paper Prescriptions

Paper prescriptions can still be posted in the wall mounted letter boxes at each site or handed in at reception.

Electronic Prescribing Service

Inspire Health is set up for the Electronic Prescribing Service.

This means that for most of our patients we can send a prescription directly to your chosen pharmacy saving you the inconvenience of having to come to the surgery.

To get your prescription sent to your chosen pharmacy you will need to ask reception to add the nomination to your record.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.90
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £114.50
  • 3-month PPC: £32.05

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website.
